Food and Drink: The Round Oak Wombourne

Stylish, chic and with a menu bursting with mouth-watering fresh cooked delights….what’s not to love about The Round Oak Wombourne?

Nestled on the edge of the canal, The Round Oak is well over a century old, but the interior has been stylishly re-fashioned, with soft leather booths, bare beams and brick work and bright vibrant blues to bring a classy feel to the traditional Wombourne pub.

The inside continues outside with the light and airy marquee. Originally installed to comply with lock down measures, the heated area has proven popular with locals even in the depths of winter. Luscious greenery brings a tropical feel and comfy rattan furniture means that the space is perfect for a quick catch up, or a long chilled out afternoon.

From the décor to the menu's, everything about the Round Oak is well thought out with customer experience in mind. There's dirty burgers for those with an appetite, fresh salads, home-made lasagne, hot and spicy Balti and an array of gluten free and vegan options available. Every Wednesday night, diners can take advantage of the Steak Night deal - buy one and get one for just £5- without compromising on quality.

If there's any room left, desserts include home-made gluten free crumble, rich and creamy Worcestershire Farm Ice-creams, zesty sundaes and a naughty but delectable vegan chocolate orange tarte amongst others.

The Round Oak not only prides itself on it extensive menu, but also on it's large range of wines, spirits, cocktails and traditional real ales. Rum is definitely a favourite of the team, with every colour of Dead Mans Fingers bottles imaginable adorning the bar, alongside some unexpected and interesting combinations of the Caribbean staple. Indeed the Gin and Rum festival held last summer was one of the pubs biggest events, bringing a little sunshine to Wombourne with live music and tasting opportunities for guests.

Entertainment is definitely something the Round Oak knows how to deliver. Well known throughout the area for its impressive bonfire night and firework display, the pub peppers the year with live music events and festivals for all the family. Monday nights are poker nights at the Oak, with opportunities for newbies to get to grips with the game, whilst cheeky Irish Jim's Tuesday night quizzes are one of the most popular quiz nights around.

For those with a talent to offer, there's an open mic night on the first Thursday of every month, courtesy of Open Jamming sessions. Performers of all ages, ability and styles are welcome to plug and play and maybe even take advantage of Thursday nights cocktail offer - buy one and get one free!
